Lorelei Skidmore-Danks

My name is Lorelei Skidmore-Danks and I’m a freelance illustrator and aspiring Webtoon artist currently based in Plymouth.Born on the outskirts of Birmingham, I grew up on comics - particularly the Beano - the annuals of which I still collect and inspire me to this day. This comic interest later led to the discovery of webtoons, a medium I fell in love with and now aspire to be successful in.I love to create narratives and tell stories. I want what I create to be entertaining and engaging but also inclusive as someone who believes that nobody deserves to feel left out, a view I aim to make clear in all that I do.I am passionate about my work as I always make it personal to me, whether that means showcasing my interests through the content or more directly referencing my life experiences.Every piece holds a part of me.Being raised in the countryside, my understanding of the world was limited until I made the decision to reinvent myself, moving to Plymouth for university. I have never once regretted this decision as it has imparted so many new experiences on me which have helped to inspire and inform my practice; it has helped make my work feel more relatable for my target audience.As an aspiring Webtoon creator, my work is featured on Webtoon Canvas and I hope that one day something I create could be featured as an Original.A final message: Never be afraid to try, hard work and perseverance will always pay off.
